This Side-Opening (tandem) milking stall set-up is similar to the original "Surge" style milking parlor, where cows stand nose-to-tail parallel to the pit. It is also commonly referred to as a side-opening stall or side-opening parlor. They are designed for individual cow management, allowing for quicker, independent release of cows compared to parallel or herringbone systems.
